One of the great areas to golf while on your Rocky Mountain Golf Vacation is Vail Valley. Vail Valleyhas been called the golf Mecca of the Rocky Mountains. Located along a 30 mile stretch of Interstate 70 between Vail and Gypsum there are several 18-hole courses and short courses designed by the best of them-Greg Norman, Tom Fazio, Arnold Palmer, and Jack Nicklaus.

These are traditional links courses and mountain courses with elevated tees and alpine terrain. The diversity in your options of golf courses will delight all level of players and invite you to take your game to the next level. Of course, having the right always helps.

The mild summer weather in Colorado can be perfect for golf...


The days in the mountains in the summer are bright and sunny with spectacular scenery. Remember though at 8,000 ft you are that much closer to the sun so be sure to use a good sunscreen to help protect yourself from Colorado’s intense sunshine. Also do get acclimated to the altitude before hitting the links and drink plenty of water.

At altitudes of over 8,000 ft., you will be able to add at least 10 percent more to the distance on your drive. Thus when you go home you can do a little bragging. We will keep it a secret that golf balls fly farther at altitude. The added distance you get playing on the golf courses in Vail Valley may enable you to play that ever-elusive perfect round of golf. This altitude advantage often surprises guests from low altitudes and makes their golf experience even that more pleasurable.

If the kids and family just want a little fun with a game of a miniature golf there is a course located in Lionshead next to the gondola and in Beaver Creek there is a course located next to Centennial Express chair lift in Beaver Creek.

Play began there in 1966 and its layout with tree-line fairways and water hazards on most holes offers plenty of challenges for golfers. This public course is an 18-hole, par 71 layout over looking the Gore Range and located just 1.5 miles east of Vail. For players from all over the world, Vail Golf Club has been a unique experience for nearly 40 years.

Golf Magazine has picked Vail Golf Club as one the Ten Top Resort Courses in Colorado for a memorable day of the course and for its professional, courteous staff and of course for the best views in the Vail Valley. The club also offers assistance in the planning of corporate and group events. There is a restaurant, bar and a full-line golf shop at the club.

but its top-notch services...


The course ends at the edge of popular and scenic Beaver Creek Village where it also begins. Beaver Creek winds its way along and in-between the golf course. The narrow fairways and consistently favorable playing conditions will bring you back year after year to this course.
