The Vail Lodge
The Vail lodge...this Rocky Mountain area is considered North America’s #1 ski destination (by a leading ski magazine). And the Vail Lodge is one of the premiere resorts in Vail. Sometimes called “The Lodge at Vail” this resort is a giant, luxurious resort – more than just a hotel – at the base of Vail Mountain. You’ll love every minute of your stay at this resort.
Vail is located along I-70 in Eagle County, Colorado. If you’re looking to fly there for your ski trip, you’ll fly into the Eagle County airport, which is actually in Gypsum, about half an hour away. Other nearby towns that are popular ski destinations, too, include Snowmass and Aspen (which are at the base of Snowmass Mountain), as well as Antlers. The airport is about half an hour away from Vail, the other towns are less than 2 hours away… so it’s all fairly close.
The town of Vail itself sits at the base of Vail Mountain... which has three sections: one section for beginners, one section for average skiers, and one section for expert skiers. The most famous – the Blue Sky Basin, is the one that most skiers use. It’s a great time with plenty of slopes for all levels of ability. The town of Vail is inspired by a Bavarian Village, which lends a quaint air to the way it looks.
The Vail Lodge itself is just as you would imagine a luxury ski lodge to be: great views, wonderful rooms, great service, a pool, fun activities, conveniently located, and accessible. But that list of amenities simply doesn’t do it justice. The activities that you can do depend on when you go. In the summer there is hiking, cycling, 4x4 tours, and amazing golfing. In the winter, of course, many of these activities carry on but all seem to be eclipsed by the tremendous skiing that the area is so famous for. The Vail Lodge is also famous for some of its world class dining… dining you won’t get anywhere in Vail, or anywhere else for that matter.
All rooms come with complimentary wireless internet access as well as the amenities... you’d expect in a hotel (including babysitting, parcel and postal service, safekeeping, etc.). But because Vail is inspired by a Bavarian village, that means it is relatively car free. This hotel has parking (in fact, it has valet parking) but you don’t have to worry about bringing your car because they offer great shuttles that will take you to the slopes. There are boutique shops and two restaurants to enjoy, too. After a busy day swooshing down the mountain, you can relax at their piano bar, or in one of the 4 hot tubs or in their heated outdoor pool. The Vail Lodge is not just for individuals looking for a great place to stay on their ski vacation. They also have conference rooms and banquet facilities so you can use their world class services for corporate or group functions. Always wanted a ski-inspired wedding? It should happen in Vail… at the Vail Lodge.
