Vail Vacations - Have a Fun Vail Vacation
Vail Vacations...Vail Colorado sits at the base of Vail Mountain near the eastern edge of Eagle County in Colorado. It is one of the premiere skiing destinations for anyone interested in skiing. It offers skiing for all levels of interest and ability… from the newest beginner to the most seasoned pro. Vail vacations are all about skiing, if that’s what you want them to be.
When on vacation, skiing is probably going to be the first thing on your mind Vail Mountain offers seven bowls – which means many slopes to choose from. These seven bowls make up most of the skiing for people on Vail vacations. So which of the seven bowls should you choose? Actually, the seven Vail Mountain bowls are divided into three: the Front side bowls are perfect for the new beginner who has never enjoyed skiing or a Vail vacation before. These slopes are not very steep… they’re basic to teach you the basics. And if you’ve never skied in the past, you can sign up for ski school to help you get up the mountain then back down.
Once you have mastered the front side, you have a few options. If you want to stay in Vail, you can ski on the Blue Sky Basin, which is the best for most skiers of most levels. The slopes are not too hard and not too easy and give enough variety that you could probably spend your entire vacation just on this one basin, blasting through the powder.
If you want, you can journey 2 hours down the road (mostly on I-70, although you’ll have to turn off part way) to Aspen. Or don’t go quite as far and hang out in Snowmass. Whether in Aspen or Snowmass, you’ll have the chance to ski on Snowmass Mountain. While you’re there, do a little shopping, check out their great dining (and the famous Snowmass chili) and head back to continue your vacation. If you don’t want to go as far as Aspen or Snowmass, consider going to Antler, which is just a little over an hour away from Vail.
At Aspen, Snowmass, and Antler, you’ll get some good skiing... a little change of pace, and you’ll be ready to go back from more skiing in the Eagle Valley and Beaver Creek. That’s the beauty of Eagle Valley...variety! And let’s not forget about the experienced skier who wants a real challenge on their trip: They can enjoy the back bowls, which contains the most difficult slopes to challenge even the most seasoned skiers.
How do you get to your vacation? Some people drive, but most fly in, landing in the Eagle County airport. From there you can take a shuttle or rent a car at the many rental car outlets to take you to Vail to start your skiing trip. Although Vail is primarily a car-free zone (because the village is built on a Bavarian theme, which has no cars) you will need a car if you want to get to Aspen, Snowmass, or Antlers Colorado. If you're planning on going in the middle of ski season, you'll probably want to book at least 6 months in advance. Most condo buildings and hotels and full most of the season and the few rooms available are usually expensive. Depending of course on the price range you're looking at. Have fun on your Vail Vacation!
